Some New Art
Here are 2 new doodaly pictures, and a new polymer clay heart.
I used water color pencils, pens, acrylic paints, all kinds of markers and pens, puffy paint and then I added some other elements for more fun... What fun I had! Doodling in your pictures is just a very relaxing process to mixed media art work.
I have been writing some poetry lately and am trying to incorporate it in my artwork... A very creative and soulful addition to some of my work that I really didn't know about. It kind of came as a surprise to me one day when I got this sudden urge to write poetry. When I looked up from my paper I sat for a while in amazement... because I really couldn't believe that I had that much to say until I was actually looking at it all on paper. I think we all have lots to say and express, but we keep it hidden most of the time because we don't really think that it may be meaningful to others... But now I know it really doesn't matter what others think... maybe some will get the meaning and the feeling behind your thoughts and writings and then others won't... and that's ok. It's fun either way...
The polymer clay heart is for my daughter Jillian who gave birth to my newest granddaughter almost a year ago. I like to give my daughters gifts from my heart when they bless me with another grandchild. This one is about wishing for two lovely children and then getting what you wish for. The song from Disney came to mind "When You Wish Upon A Star"
I put the two stars on the front with the heart and then inside there are pictures of her son and daughter collaged and diamond glazed for that shinny effect. She also loves the ocean so I just had to put a beautiful sea shell on top.

Second Friday in Carrboro!
We had lots of fun, and pleasantly surprised that the band, The Butcher & The Tin Man Live, were fantastic! I just had to post a video of them playing, and also some pics of some of the other folks at the event. We were mainly at The Remix Art Shop, where some of my work is, but the little town was hoppin. What Fun! Try and get up there next month, you will thoroughly enjoy yourself. Tons of restaurants to eat at too. Enjoy!
Who's... The Butcher? Who's... The Tin Man? We never did find out.
Listen to the band, here is a youtube link below.

A week or so ago I visited with my friend Katherine Stein, and was happy to have the opportunity to take a peek at some of her wonderful work. Here is a quilt she had hanging in her dining room...Absolutely Fabulous!! I know the photos do not do it justice, but I just had to post it so all could see. She has many other wonderful surprises in her studio... Enjoy!

Weekend Trip
I was out this weekend wondering around Carrboro NC with a friend of mine, and we happened to come across a shop that was extraordinarily different. The owner is an artist, Jeanmarie, who runs the shop and is the nicest shop owner I have ever come across. We had a great time with her, and my friend and I looked and looked at all she had to offer in her shop. She has been a seamstress for many years, and is also a repurpose artist, so you can just imagine all the eye candy in this little shop. She uses amazing material for all her purses, wallets, etc. Some of her repurpose artwork is just very original and ingenious. She also represents other artists in her shop, so there is a great mix of creative juice going on in this little artist den. There are displays of jewelry, original art work, clothing, etc.
If you get a chance to head out to Carrboro please stop by her shop and look around and say "Hello" to Jeanmarie, (Capital J little m). You will truly feel like a welcomed guest...

New Art Work!
I have done a few new pieces that I had wanted to get on my blog for Valentine's Day, but with all that was happening with my store I just didn't get a chance. One piece is a wall hanging "The Muse", one piece is "The Cross", and then two new boxes. All done with polymer clay tiles and beads.
Hope you enjoy... Thank you for taking a look.

Hi Everyone!
I am so excited my work has been published in Cloth Paper Scissors... All of you who are mixed media artists know how wonderful this magazine is. The house I posted in a previous post won the contest, but now it has been published in the November/December issue. There are so many beautiful ones it must of been hard for them to pick. This was my first contest and what a great surprise to actually get picked to be published. If you get this magazine please look on page 76, you will see my house there. Second row from bottom, first on the left. There are lots of other great things to try in this issue too.
