I very much appreciate you taking the time to comment, and I am so happy you love the colors because I really do to... xo :)Rita Mariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05624928406654878708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1166590365883533736.post-62699223134126060292015-07-08T23:47:22.910-04:002015-07-08T23:47:22.910-04:00Hi Cheryl! Was your background paper dry enough? ...Hi Cheryl! Was your background paper dry enough? The paint I used on the original geli print was acrylic and very dry. If you are using wet gesso with water color over a surface make sure it is very dry underneath or it will pull up the background. You can also put clear gesso over your original background and make it dry completely, then use the white gesso with the water color crayons. The surface must be very dry or the gesso mixed with the water and the crayons will start to lift. I hope this helps sweetie and I would love to see your work. Please let me know if you have any more questions. Thank you so much Cheryl for watching and I am so happy you enjoyed this piece. xo :)Rita Mariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05624928406654878708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1166590365883533736.post-14263588785930795092015-07-08T23:30:25.274-04:002015-07-08T23:30:25.274-04:00Thank you so much Claudia, and I have to apologize...Thank you so much Claudia, and I have to apologize to you too for not getting back to you sooner... I hope you didn't wait for my reply to do this. I can't imagine what happened and why there are so many comments that didn't show up on my email... To finally answer your question...yes, you can use gelato too, but sometimes I have found I have to not smear the gelatos with my finger because it will pull up the gesso...I say sometimes because I don't know why but (sometimes) it doesn't, so use caution. I think the grittier the gesso the better. Sorry again about not replying to you sooner... xo :)Rita Mariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05624928406654878708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1166590365883533736.post-60021689728330538102015-07-08T23:10:55.482-04:002015-07-08T23:10:55.482-04:00Rita, in regards to last of mine..., since I alrea...Rita, in regards to last of mine..., since I already had gesso down, I just covered the area mentioned with more watercolor crayon and it covered up the lifting paper. I had used some cardboard, so I think next time, I will stick to a canvas board! All went beautifully, until I started playing with the gesso and watercolor crayons. Some parts went well, other I had a few problems with paper lifting. It happened when I added some watercolor crayon onto wet gesso, like I saw you do. Some of the areas lifted, looking like I scrubbed it. Can you explain what happened?Cherylhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01948522015754382505noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1166590365883533736.post-85708926583348529972015-04-09T03:23:27.638-04:002015-04-09T03:23:27.638-04:00Love your vibrant project! I don't have water color crayons, so, do you think gelatos would work? Thanks for you ideas.
